Snapshot Mobile

Walking through the city, we are constantly confronted with a vast number of digitalised transportation options – e-scooters, shared bikes and cars – as well as public WiFi hotspots. Snapshot Mobile explores techniques of cartography in relation to the digitalised urban space and mobility. A digital network in mind, the mobile reassembles points of connectivity in the Berlin neighborhood Mitte, on a particular moment during February 2021. The in/tangability and the continuous motion of this data is conveyed in the installation hovering above us. In/visible and ubiquitous at the same time, the digital network represents the technological condition of the 21st century. 

Camille Pluss studies at the berlin University of the Arts. Her project was Part of a seminar on flanierie in Winter 2020/21 by Mirjana Mitrovic.

Streifen wir durch die Stadt, begegnen uns ununterbrochen öffentliche Wifi Hotspots und per App steuerbare Transportmöglichkeiten. Das Projekt Snapshot Mobile beschäftigt sich mit Kartografietechniken und Mobilität im digitalisierten urbanen Raum. Angelehnt an der Vorstellung eines digitalen Netzwerks, versammelt und veranschaulicht das Mobileé Orte der digitalen Vernetzung im Berliner Bezirk Mitte. Die abstrakte Natur von Daten, deren Unbeständigkeiten sowie An/bwesenheit wird in der über uns schwebenden Installation deutlich. Unsichtbar und allgegenwärtig zugleich, repräsentiert das digitale Netzwerk die technologischen Bedingungen des 21. Jahrhunderts.

Camille Pluss studiert an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Die Arbeit entstand im Rahmen eines Seminars zum Thema Flanieren im Winstersemester 2020/21 von Mirjana mitrovic.
